SEPTEMBER IS GYNECOLOGIC CANCER AWARENESS MONTH

Gynecologic cancers encompass all cancers of the female reproductive system, including the cervix, ovaries, uterus, vagina, and vulva. All women are at risk for these cancers.
Gynaecological cancer awareness month is observed in September every year globally, and the event is commemorated by wearing a purple ribbon. Of all these, Cervical cancer is the most common type of gynaecological cancer among Indian women. According to the report from 2021 released by the Indian Council Of Medical Research (ICMR), cervical cancer accounted for 15.2% of all cancers occurring in women.
Each gynecological cancer has different signs and symptoms, as well as different risk factors. Risk increases with age.
These resources give you the tools to share knowledge about gynecologic cancer symptoms and risk factors, to lead to an early detection — because every five minutes, someone will be diagnosed with one of these cancers.
